A new look for Schweinfurt!
For many years, the city was a centre of Europe’s ball-bearing industry. However, at the start of the 1990s, Europe went into a recession, which decreased production in the automobile industry, badly affecting manufacturers of ball bearings. In just a few years, the city managed to re-direct its economy towards services. A large conference centre with a hotel was built. A cultural area is being developed and a new library will open soon !. The city walls have also been restored….
Dozens of new jobs in the service sector have been created. Today, Schweinfurt is crowned the most dynamic city in Germany ! It offers 55,000 jobs for its 55,000 inhabitants – a European record !
